Invermoriston and Views of the River Moriston A82 Scotland

Invermoriston is on the main road (A82) just a short distance inland from Loch Ness where it meets the A887. The River Moriston  caught my eye as we drove over the bridge shown in the photos. Parking the car and walking a short distance down the path shown in the first photo, is where I decided all the photos would be taken. The photos looking up river through a stone window were the window is part of an old stone building built out over the river. It's a shame you're unable to hear the water flowing over the rocks.    

The Highlands of Scotland June 2013

The Caledonian Cannel at Fort Augustus at the entrance to Loch Ness, I did not count the locks the vessels have to pass through, seeing it was hard enough climbing in the first place. Please take notice of the plaque in the first photo. I waited ages to get the piper on his own without hundreds of cameras clicking away. 

The highlands of Scotland June 2013 part 2

The tree photos of the ducks were taken before leaving Dores, and driving along the side of Loch Ness towards Fort Augustus. The drive alongside Loch Ness was on a very narrow road and the only stopping place which was safe enough to take more photographs was at a place called Foyers. The thee photographs in woods were taken from a small but rather steep pathway, which I sadly could not venture down. The last photograph was taken at Fort Augustus were the road crosses the River Oich showing the old bridge support. The River Oich runs along side the Caledonian Cannel, which will be my next posting.
