Hello Brian. Those pebbles are so colorful! And I imagine that is the remains of an old pier or dock we see in the first few photos. It is interesting to think of that church lost to erosion now buried under the waves, the haunt of fishes and other sea creatures.

The pier used to be where the Castle shaped building is now, it's a replacer of the actual entrance to the long lost pier.
