The gentleman was resting as he fished from the beach on the 15th August 2008 in the seaside town of Withernsea on the East Yorkshire coast. I have shown the same photos three times, in colour, black and white, and sepia tone. I think there is a lot of satisfaction and peace in this gentleman's face.

That is a very colorful shirt he is wearing. At first glance he looked Greek to me; must be the hat he is wearing. On closer inspection, he looks English! There is certainly a lot of character in his face.
