ABC WEDNESDAY 3 = G = GREAT BANDS = MASS PIPES AND DRUMS OF THE EDINBURGH TATTOO 2008

19 August 2008 late evening in Edinburgh at the Edinburgh Festival and Military Tattoo, the photos are the very best I could do as it rained from start to finnish.

I felt really sorry for the Chelsea Pensioners who had to sit in the stands for the whole show, then asked to join in the march off, why could they not have been allowed to sit with all the other VIPs under cover, or was it more important to keep a few so called bebs dry?

A marvellous arrangement! I have been their a couple of times on the days before (yes, I know you have to order the tickets a year in advance), but just smelling the atmosphere was special.

And then home to the TV... sigh.

Wonderful and beautiful photos. I bet they sounded even better than they photograph. That definitely looks like something I would love see in person. Cheers!

Rain or no, Brian, the photos are wonderful. I'm sorry it rained; at least the bands could move around a bit, and they are probably used to it. Hope none of the pensioners became ill as a result.

Very envious. I wish I could have seen this. I'm sure it was quite breathtaking inspite of the rain.

When I return to Edinburgh some day, I will make a point of seeing the Tatoo. Last time I couldn't get tickets. :(

It must be an incredible sight to see. Especially when you've been in the forces and know how much work is involved.

When I was in Scotland several years ago, I also saw Edinburgh casle, which I found very impressive. We didn't see the festival though, but we saw that there were a lot of preparations going on. Beautiful series of photos, Brian!

Hi Brian,
A few years ago we took our fourth grade students to a Tattoo in Norfolk, Virginia. It was my first time and I loved it.
Your photos are wonderful.

Thanks for stopping by my train post today.

I too feel sorry for the folks who got wet..I guess that is how everything stays so green. But I think you did a great job on the photos even with the rain.
