Vigo harbour June 2011

We are now waiting to leave Vigo and sail back to Southampton this is the view from our state room of the area I walked around for all my other photos on this series. There are only two more photos to go as we sailed towards the open sea, this was a remarkable holiday for both Pat and I our first cruise and we will do more! I am so pleased some have commented as that means so much to and given me so much needed confidence.

Vigo Spain Continued June 2011

Now nearing the end of our day in Vigo this photo gives good view of the area I have been talking about    you will notice the photo is in sepia. The shopping area to the left had many shops and coffee houses all at good prices and pleasure to sit in  and watch the world go by! The cruise ship made everything look small..  I love the statues in the foreground I was somewhat surprised to see so many people trying to climb them, yet waited to the photo when none were. It is well worth clicking on photo and seen in a larger size!! The next photo is this one in colour and the difference is amazing am sure viewers will agree?

Vigo dock area continued June 2011

The last photo showed this photo in a colour negative when this is how the cruise ship really looked under a sunny sky, this very hot weather is not for me shade is my friend on days such as this! Not even a cooling breeze came to cool one down!

Vigo Spain Continuing around the dock area 2011

I like posting photos like this, just gives another perspective of the original that will be posted later in this the Vigo dock area series! Some photos are very good to do this with and others are awful, the colours of the subject have to be just right, otherwise you can and will end up with a disaster !! I really hope you like and will  comment good and bad feedback is always productive.

Vigo, Spain at the dock side June 2011 nearly a year ago now!

I, loved walking round the dock side seeing the cruise ship from a different perspective whilst the others walked around in the sun, which was far to hot for me, this photo was taken from the top of a large seating area, allowing views across the dock and the shopping area, shown in the first few photos of this series.

Vigo, we are still around the dock area and the statues.

VIGO harbour and dock area!!

This sculpture or stature whatever you wish to call it can be  seen from almost anywhere on the dock, but to photograph with no-one climbing on or over it, I had to wait and wait hours for the right moment!

I could not see anything to tell me what it was all about, but was amazed by its size and beauty, yet people just climbed over it or walked around muttering "What a waste of money"  I think some would have pushed it into the dock if they could!!

Hope you enjoy it and see the beauty I see in this work of art!!

Vigo continued June 2011 still on shore around the dock

After walking round the dock area I came across the small vessels lined up in the heat of the day loving the reflection they gave in the cool water.

This area of Vigo is nice and peaceful and allows one just to stroll and sit at ease.. If I had moved my camera just slightly upwards a far busy scene would have emerged into my viewfinder.

As you can see I settled for this and sat and relaxed after!!

Virgo continued on shore June 2011

A statue of a departing man this is the view that greets you as you leave the passenger hall walking towards the shopping mall, the young Lady is standing close to the entrance, this statue intrigued me but one had to use imagination as there are no writings to say just what it is representing! I have called him Holiday Man, he is going to get away from it all!

Justa short distance away were cafe's with lot's of outside seating and tables, with lot's of music!!

Vigo continued reflection in the windows of the shopping mall!!

Vigo a little History, The name Galicia (for this area of Vigo) is celtic in origin and it was the celts who, in about the 6th century BC, occupied the region and constructed fortified defences or castors..

Whilst still on board awaiting to go ashore for our visit I took this to show the reflections in the shaping mall windows, on going ashore we disembarked close to this building with it's pleasents shops and cafes. And some strange statues.
